Ut °- The Po'nts then unsettled referred to wage ? , preference, and the term of award. These have now been settled. The wages of journeymen have been increased from 1/2 to 1/4 per hour. An apprentice, after five years' service, may be employed at the rate of not less than £3 5/ a week f or the first six months after expiration of apprenticeship, and at the rate of not less "than £2 10/ per week for the second six months. The term of award is to he for two years, from August 1 101G to August I, 1918. In order to allow the dispute to go on to the Arbitration Court the preference clause has been left unsettled, although it has been tacitly agreed to adopt the usual Court preference clause. At the conclusion of the sitting. Mr. ,T. W. Wiseman, for tho employers, thanked the Commissioner for the part he had taken in bringing about the settlement. Mr. O. Hughes, for the union, seconded the motion 0 f thanks, which was carried unanimously. Mr. Giles is to go to Whangnroi tonight, where ho will take .evidence in the local bodies labourers' dispute in that district.
