RELIEVING BELGIUM.
CANT TRUST THE GERMANS. COLONIES' BIG HELP. LONDON, June 29. _ The Australian representative considers that although the operations of the Belgian Commission will continue on a large scale there is no necessity for further urgent appeals in Australia. The Foreign Office asserts that the commission has done its utmost to safeguard the distribution of imported foodstuffs, but admits that it is impossible to guarantee that the Germans will carry out any agreement regarding the protection of native foodstuffs, as they have full control of the Belgian, agriculture and industry. Australia and New Zealand have done their duty, and. have already contributed 65 per cent of the.total subscribed throughout the Empire.
