LONDON, March 22.

Mr Austen Chamberlain (Secretary of State for India), speaking in the House of Commons with regard to the inadequacy of the hospital arrangements in Mesopotamia, said he was afraid that there had been a lamentable-break-down. There had always been abundant supplies at Basra, on the Tigris, 50 miles from the Persian Gulf, but there was an inexcusable -shortage above that point.
