LAND FOR SOLDIERS.
(Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. The current "Gazette" shows that the Government is reserving for disposal to returned soldicis, by way of lease or *»le, 105 acres at Hunua, Wellington district, two sections of ten acres in Waipawa County, Hawke's Bay, another section of seven acres in Dannevirke district, and eight sections, ranging from 30 to 150 acres in tne Oteramika Hundred, Southland district. Regulations have been prepared for making advances to discharged soldiers Under the Advances to Settlers Act. They provide that progress payments in feepect to improvements may be made J| to 75 per cent of the value of the ""provements, but in no case shall the total advance to one person exceed £500. ™m limit of advance for the construction of a dwelli::? shall he £150- SO- ?% UI for the advances .-hill be a mort?"jgi! over the land, and if money is adB&ed in respect to ctock and imple"nthts, the amount will be further »Wured by a collateral .bill of sale.
