ATTACKS ON VAUX AGAIN FAIL.
INTERMITTENT BOMBARDMENT WEST OF THE MEUSE.
THTRTT-TWO AERIAL COMBATS.
The High Commissioner cables under date of LondoD, March 19:— On the right bank of the Meuse the Gcrmaus attacked several times between Vaux and the wood south of Haudremont, but were unable to reach our trenches. An enemy attack in Lorraine enabled the enemy to penetrate oiir advance trenches, but be was immediately ejected. North of Verdun there is no infantry action, but an intermittent bombardment is taking place west of tho Meuse. In the Woevre region the bombardment is more intense on the right bank. On the Douaumont-Damloup front the French artillery destroyed an important munitions depot at Champ NeuviUe. During yesterday, despite mist and low-lying clouds, French fighting aeromachines made 29 expeditions in the region of Verdun, in the course of which they fought 32 aerial combats. A IJokker seemed seriously damaged. On Friday nignt 4 _„„_ 17 bombarding aeroplanes dropped 54 bombs of heavy calibre, inclndin" 40 on Conflan* station and 14 on Mete station. The shells were noticed to'strike the mark, causing fires. Three incendiary bombs were droppßd on th. rtation at Metzablons. The French aeroplanes, which were violently ba»na,c«d. returned 'safely.
