A short sitting of the Knipara Licensing Bench was held on Wednesday at DargnTille. Transfers were granted from S. Thompson to O'Dowd (Central Hotel), and troni Watt to Parks (Helen-syille Hotel). The bench made .an inspection of the ■Northern Wairoa Hotel, more particularly of the accommodation of the back portion. The Conncil resolved: "That the engineer be instructed to have the Aratapu Swamp drain cleaned, and the cost charged to its owners whose properties abnt on tne drain; that the Council agrees to fall m with the recrnltine scheme a« PW.V}f ° Hon.
