FRENCH LINER'S ESCAPE OFF TUNIS.

TORPEDO PASSES UNDER THE VESSEL'S STERN. NEW YORK, March 17. The French liner Patria. with 000 passengers aboard, from Palermo, reports that whilst she was passing the Tunisian coast a submarine fired a torpedo at her without warning. The engines were pat at full speed, and the ship saved. The Patria. a liner of 11.885 tons, was built in 1013, and is owned by the French Steam Navigation Company.
