SPYING SENSATIONS.

HOW GERMANS GET INFORMATION. Charges arc pending against two hlga officers of the Swiss General Staff, who are alleged, according to the "Morning Tost. - to have communicated to certain foreign l-egations in Berne confldential information which had come to their knowledge by virtue of their official position. The Legations are those of Germany and Austria, and the country to whose detri•ment the confidential Information is supFrance. AH along the Swiss frontier within the military zone observation posts are placed, where all movements of French troops are notoi. This information is sent daily to the Swiss General Staff, and one of the officers was connected with this department. It is now stltcd in the SWlss 'Prtss that lie is alleged to have transmitted every evening, by a military cyclist, the secret information of the Swiss General Stall to the !German and Austrian Military Attaches. The excitement throughout tbe country over this affair, involving the honour not only of two highly placed Swiss officers, but ol "U>e"couhtry Itself, is extreme. It is understood that the Allied Powers have been assured by the Swiss Government that the officers, if guilty, shall be punished. Should the charges be proved against them only one punishment is possible in circumstances of such extreme gravity. Sentinels have been stationed before the doors of the houses occupied by the accused officers, and thus virtually, though not nominally, they are under arrest.
