HOW TO SEND THEM. A circular letter has been received by the Women's Patriotic League from the Wer-Secretary for Interna] Affairs, oil the question of the best method to be observed in the dispatch of comforts, etc., for the men on active service The > following are extracts, which it is thought may be of guidance to those de- . siring to help in this way to promote the comfort and pleasure of our troops abroad: — ' , directed b y the Hon. Minister for Defence to ask if you will kindly Have all goods sent through the Dei partment of Internal Affairs." "It is specialty desired to point out the great advantage of forwarding giffc f or gen . eral distribution to the troops. The tremendous difficulty involved in delivering packages to specific individuals, or to men from a particular district, will be 1 readily realised. Should it be desired to . send such packages to individuals, they ■ should be forwarded in the ordinary way through the postal authorities, who have , special facilities for dealing with same. This matter, Colonel Rhodes cables, is of the greatest importance." "Gifts for troop should be marked as follows: 'Gifts for distribution to N.Z. troops on t active service, at the discretion of the O.C. New Zealand Forces.' This will ensure that all New Zealand soldiers participate in the gifts so generously ■> forwarded 'by the people of the Dominion, and that none will be over--1 looked." The information contained in the > circular was in the possession of the Women's Patriotic Leagues of the Do- " minion during the recent conference called by Lady Liverpool, and represented, so far oe Auckland province was . concerned, by the Mayoress and secretary of the Auckland League and two Cambridge delegated, and was a strong factor in influencing them to a decision ', to endeavour to send to every man on active service in the New Zealand forces, a gift parcel monthly.
