THIRD ACT AT VERDUN
GERMAN ATTACKS RESUME. DIRECTED ON DEADMAN'S WOOD. JTOT LIKELY TO SUCCEED. (By Cable. —Press Association.— Copyright.) (Received 2.30 p.m.) PARIS, March 15. A semi-official message states that the third act of the Verdun drama is beginning. The enemy's whole efforts are directed at the section fronting Jlort Homme Wood, north of Verdun, the pillar of our resistance in this region. The conquest of this singularly obstructive position tempted the German ambition, but it will not succeed. A French communique states that the enemy has made no fresh attempt west of the Jleuse. Our counter-attacks at Bethincourt and Cumieres recaptured a portion of the lost trench. We hold Bethincourt, Mort Hornme, and the southern edge of Cumieres village.
