Tiic Presbytery, standing in silence, paescd motions of condolence with the Rev. A. 11. Murray and Rev. \V. McDonald, each of whom recently lost a child. CHAPLAINS VJKIT. It Tvas ogrced to hold a public meeting, to be by Oliaplain-Oaptain McDonald. The following committee was appointed to make the neceieary arrangements: Revs. R. .Inglie (convener), Walker. Munro. and Messrs A. J. Eutrican and J. Bradotreet. MINISTER OF ST. STEPHENS. A letter -was read from Rev. Isaac Jolly, expressing regret that a month at Rotorua had not relieved him of his insomnia. Ho had therefore taken a trip south, as he generally slept well at sea. The Moderator said Mr. Jolly hnd intimated to him that if it required three mouths' leave of absence to restore hie -health, he would resign hU charge in the interest of the' Church. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mr Jolly, coupled ■with the aseuraneo that hie cliurch would be looked after during his absence. I/AY PREATTIERS. M> A. Wilson reported upon the need for organisation in connection with the lay preacher movement. Rev. R. Inglis said the matter was a most important one. So many men had gone to the front that the Home Mission Committee had intimated that there were now no less than 20 stations without supplies. They had been asked to lind local supplies for such place 3as Manurewa. They were handicapped because there was no proper organisation. It Tvas agreed to eet up a committee to dea] with the matter. RICHMOND CHARGE. The following committee was appointed to attend to Richmond cbarg« during the absence of the Rev. Isaac Jolly: Revs. Walker, Saunders and Murray! MAHIRAXGI. . Captain McKenzie asked for permission for the Mahurangi Church toyborrow £100 upon the manse. This was granted. SOMERVELL MEMORIAL CHURCH. A call was submitted from Somervell Memorial Church, East Kemuera, to the Rev. James Pattison. The. Commissioners ■were Messrs Rosser. Wilkinson and McKenzie. Mr Roseer referred to the fact that the Rev. Walter McLean had gone to the front, and a unanimous call had been given to Rev. J. Pattieon.
