ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
The ordinary meeting of the Council ot the Auckland AccUrantieatlon Society yesterday evening was attended by the president " (Li"uteuant-Coionel Hazard), and Messrs. b". Noakee, i. A. GlUett, S. Stewart (secretary), H. H. Ostler. J. S. BrigJiam, J. J. Waltlate, B. Grayson, and Uγ. H. C. Chatflpld. The- secretary reported that the membership of thp society now stood at 200. Mr J. Dickson, of Leamington, was recommended for appointment as honorary ranger for the society. It wat< reported that 14 opossums had been received from the Wellington Society, and It was decided to forward them to the Chlnemurl Society for liberation, as per a prior arrangement. A request by the Weiliimton Society for an exchange of pheasants for the purpose of Introducing new blood into'the'stofWwaß agreed' to. The meeting decided to open the shooting season for fallow deer In the Waifeato district from March 14 to May 31, and to ■have licenses obtainable Immediately. '
