MAN ESCAPES CUSTODY.
t 1 WHILE AWAITING SENTENCE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) > HAMILTON, this day. c Charles Henry Roxborough, alias ~ Ewan, a .young man, 25 years of age, s escaped from police custody at Hamilton g yesterday. He wae apprehended on two ,_ charges of houisebreaking and one. ot J theft from a dwelling, and another of r theft. Roxborough was brought up from t Auckland under escort, and lod«ed in 0 the lock-up with a military prisoner. . The latter was removed at 3 p.m., and ~ when the cell was inspected by Seniore Sergeant Casselk an hour later, Eoxa borough .was β-till its occupant. At .. 5 p.m. it wae discovered that the prii, soner had effected an escape aided by a f sudden thunderstorm. The escapee had 1 kicked away the bars protecting the c window at the end of a passage to which prisoners are given access in ho: weather. Roxbarough, who has not yet been . recaptured, is sft Bin in height,-..0f fair i complexion, clean shaven, and dressed . in a brown euit of smart appearance. , When he escaped he wae without a liai, f braces, collar, or tie. ! * • _ __
