FEBRUARY RAINFALL
The weather report supplied by the meteorological observer, ilr. ]?, N. 17 Barnott, shows that the average rainfall for February last was slightly Icbs than that of previous years. The total rainfall was .51 inch. The heaviest rainfall, .19 inch, fell on the sth. The highest record for February is 14.15 inches, which amount fell in 18G9. In February, 1909, no rain fell at aIL The sunshine during the month totalled-225h. 55m., an average of Th. 47nu per day, as against Ch. 24m. in February, 1915. The total sunshine periods for the three previous 'years were: 1915, 179h. 30m.; 1914, 183h; 1913, 19h. -15m. Tho mean shade temperature for the past month was 75.7. With the maximum of 80 degrees on the 11th, as against 71J and 77 maximum, the previous year, the mean moist temperature for the month was 69.68, with a maximum of 75 degrees on the Bth, as against 65.9 and maximum 71 degrees for February, 1915. A fact worthy of note is that the present month's sunshine exceeds the highest of the three previous months by 34h. 40m. X the sunshine maximum of the 29th (this being a leap year) amounting to 8 hours, be deducted,, the. month's sunshine still exceeds that of the three previous years by 20h. 40m. The maximum heat of'the gun was 149.5 on the 19th inst., tha jnean heat was' 140.79. In 1915 the maxfamnn heat waa 148 and the mean heat 138.8.
