FIGURES FOR FEBRUARY. The Customs statistics for the month

of February snow that the net Customs duty collected at the port of Auckland amount to £70,165. This is an increase of £17,057 on the amount collected (£59.108) for the same month in 1915. ; The beer duty amounted to £4,609, as against £2.193 for February, 1915, an increase of £2,416. The following are the . details of the gold and silver exported from Auckland during the past month: • Gold. 3.5960z, value £15,28.3; silver, 24,7430z, value £2.466. The figures for February, 1915, were: Gold, 4320z, value > £1.513: "silver. 30,8800z, value £3,068. . Those figures show an increase for the month just ended of £13,770 for gold exported and a decrease of £602 in the silver exported.. The excess of the departures over arrivals from the port of Auckland during February totalled 859, the figures being: Arrivals, 1,180; departures, 2,045. A large percentage of the departures consists of soldiers and others leaving for the front, this number totalling 1.353. In the corresponding month last year the departures exceeded arrivals by 170. while in the same month of 1914 the departures were ■ less than arrivals by 95.
