Note the cheerful aspect of things at Salonika, where,there has been no actual fighting, and then look at the blasted;and desolate appepance of the once fair and fertile Champagne country, the result of "artillery preparation"—iri other words, the destruction of every, ftring thing within tne ramus of action.
