FOOD PRICES IN HOLLAND.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —A neighbour of mine has juat received a letter from Holland regarding- the price of farm produce there, which shows that the Germane, the principal buyers, have to pay. very high prices for what they get. The following are some of the rates current: —Potar toes in field, £8 6/ to £9 per ton; red cabbage in field, 4d to 5d per head; white cabbage in field, Id par lb; onions, £7 10/ to £10 per ton (Germany juet now draws onions from Hungary); beef, 2/4 per lb live weight; pork, 2/ do., suet, 2/4 for soz (a little more thin lib); butter, 2/1 per lb (Government maximum) ; cheese, 135/ to 140/ per cwt.— I am, etc., GEO.
