A CLOSED ROAD.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Has it ever been known in the history of Auckland for a public thoroughfare to be closed for repairs for twelve months—a road that leads off the main road to a place of interest, such as the Ellerslie racecourse? For such is the case with Vincent Road, Remuera. I understand the blockade is on account of some little deviation that requires the corner of private property; but nevertheless I think, like many others, it is quite time that the road was made passable, so that us poor unfortunates at the bottom of the street could get out without having to take three different roads before we can drive into town. —I am, etc., G. H. LESTER (Ratepayer).
