HOSPITAL AUXILIARY FUND.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of those interested in the operations of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary Fund was held in St. ' .James' Hall last evening. Mr. P. J. Ncrheny occupied the chair. It was stated in the annual report that the fund had been used to assist patients who were without means when dis- ! charged from the Hospital, and also for '' the relief of the dependents of patients undergoing treatment. A sum of £121 3/- had been received from last year's ' demonstration in the Domain in aid of ' the fund, but the calls on the fund during the year had been so heavy'that at ' the present time the money available for carrying on the useful work was almost exhausted. Daring the year 40 ; families and more than 120 children had been assisted by the fund, either in the ' matter of cash, provisions, or clothing. A letter was received from Captain ' Thomas, manager of Auckland Hospital, ; enclosing a donation to the funds, and stating that of his own personal know- ' ledge the committee administering the ' funds had done exceptionally good work ' during the year.' * The meeting decided to hold the annual .;denjonstration> on Saturday, 1 March 11th. This year it will take the 1 form of a street collection and a house- 1 to-house canvass of. the city and suburbs, i It was" also decided to ask the picture - .theatre proprietors $o assist the fund. 11
