WELLINGTON, Friday. Allegations having been made that the soldiers recently discharged from Hammer had been harshly dealt with—that is, deprived of all their war-won privileges because they disobeyed an order to remain within doors after six o clock at night-the Defence headquarters made the following statement as to the nature of the "punishments" imposed: Ail that happened was that, as the men m the convalescent hospital at Hanmer had not been behaving themselves it was decided to bring the whole of them before the Medical Board to determine how they should be dealt with. from the mjdwd poLt of view.
