MORE MEN RETURN.
35 CASES BY THE TAHITI.
THREE INVALIDED OFFICERS.
ARRIVAL THIS MORNING
A party of some 35 invalided officers and men, who reached Port Chalmers last week by the Tahiti, arrived at Auckland this morning by train from Wellington, having been brought thither in the Maunganui. A further 20 men got off at Frankton, 12 having been selected for treatment at Rotorua. The officers on the train were: Captains W. T. Beck, D.5.0., and K. MacCormick, N.Z.M.C., and Chaplain-Captain An<ms Mac Donald, all of whom have been "invalided home. Nursing-sister Ncwdick also returned. The party was brought up by Captain R. C. Hocking, adjutant of 3rd (Auckland) Regiment. A hospital car was attached to the train, but none of the men were " cot cases," although a proportion will require hospital treatment.
Of the officers, Captain Bock has returned to rest and recuperate after nearly a year's continuous service in the Ordnance Department in Egypt, and at Anzac, where he won the D.S.O. for his management of the landing of stores and ammunition during a number of very trying months under heavy shell-Are. Prior to the war Captain Beck was defence storekeeper at Mount Eden. Captain MaoCormick is recovering from an operation for appendicitis, and ChaplainCaptain MaeDonald has come home for a rest from very arduous work among the wounded in Egypt. No civic reception was given to the party, but the men were met at the station bj Major J. E. Barton, of the district staff, and a number of motor reserve officers, who conveyed them to their homes.
