FORD'S FAILURE. ( SAILS BACK TO AMESICA. _EAVES PABTY IH DENMARK. (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, December 20. The Copenhagen correspondent of the Exchange Telegraph Agency advises that i Henry Ford, of the peace mission, has sailed towards .America aboard the Bcngensfjord, realising that it is impossible ' to make any headway. Before leaving he gave a cheque for a million kroner (about £56,000) to finance the expedition under a commit toe of five. The party were continually 'at loggerheads.! •Miss Posiki Scluvimmer had persuaded' Ford that the Scandinavian Government was ready to 1 assist the scheme. When 1 Ford found that all official doors were closed against him he broke down. FOR 3 MERELY A VICTIM OP ELABORATE GERMAN PLAN FAILED TO MATERIALISE. I (Received 2.15 p.m.) LONDON. December 20. According to the Stockholm correspondent of the "Weekly Despatch," Ford's expedition was a German plot whereof Ford was the victim. The plan was batched two months ago j in Berlin. "M isa Schwimmer designed to secure a rich American to finance the trip, and it was hoped that Sweden ■would officially receive the mission, and that then Mr. Bryan would be brought to .meet the King. Finally Bcthmann'FTollweg was to invite Bryan and the mission fo Berlin. Ford i s returning a disillusioned man.
