THE TAHITI'S DRAFT. 85 PATIENTS ON BOARD. ONE SOLDIER DIES AT SEA. bUNEDIX, ""Sunday. The troopship Tahiti arrived at Port Chalmers at 5 p_m. yesterday. She left Suez on November 22, -and had a fine run across, a large number of the men impvoving wonderfully during the voyage. Private Harriion (Cantcr.bu.ry Infantry) died of pulmonary trouble, and was buried in the lied Sea. There were 185 officers, men and nurses on board, under charge of Captain W. T. Beck, D.5.0., with Captain Pitt as adjutant, and Dr. Paris as senior medical officer. The majority of the invalids are convalescent from enteric, rheumatism, and dysentery, but there are several .pulmonary cases, and a number recovering from wounds. One man has lost his leg just helow the knee. The men were entertained at luncheon at Port Chalmers by the Local Women's Patriotic Committee to-day, and afterwards given a civic reception. The Maunganui left Port Chalmers at 2.50 with the Northern contingents. Only about 23 Otago and Southland men were on hoard the Tahiti. Pour of the nurses who were on the illfated Marquette came on the Tahiti, namely, Sisters Blackic, McLeod, Wilson, and L-oone}'.
