There has been a bombardment all day. A, message from Zurich says that the Italians in the Gorz region rejected the Austrians' offer of a Christinas truce. Sir Douglas Haig reports: "There was artillery activity on both sides, mainly about Ypres, throughout Friday." A French communique states: "There has been a particularly heavy artillery duel in Belgium. Enemy infantry assembled in the trenches in the region of Lombaertzyde, but were dispersed by our fire. Our artillery between the Sommo and the Oiso demolished German works west of Lassigny. We exploded two mines, wrecking enemy works south-east of Bcrry-au-Dac."
