ONE FOR THE FARMERS.
DR. GD3B SPEAKS OUT. " It is a downright shame and a scandal," remarked Dr. Gibb, when speaking at the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand to-day, upon Home Mission work, " that some of oui*> Home Mission charges do not do better for themselves. One Home Mission charge, in a fat farming district, where, even in spite of the war, they are piling up dollars, actually cried out because the committee wanted to take £10 per annum off their grant. Why, I assure you that some of the farmers in that district could take the whole charge of that station on themselves, and never feci it. I hope they will consider to their shame the meanness of i accepting grants from the Home Mission fund which is subscribed to by working ! men and factory girls in the towns j from their small means." J In conclusion, Dr. Gibb said: "We want all the money we can possibly get out of the people for the Home Mission work."
