LADY CORRESPONDENTS SAURY.
Tht matter of payment of the salary of a lady correspondent came again before Mr.*C. C. Kettle, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court this morning. The plaintiff. Gcrvan Runcie (Mr. W. D. Anderson) sued George W. Hutchison I Mr EJ. Prendergast) as liquidator of the •'Bulletin" Printing Co., for tbe payment of £24 alleged to be due as for services rendered a» lady correspondent for the paper, at the rate of .'O/ per week
Mr. Prendergast said he had seen Mr. O'Connor since the adjournment. It apfK.aro<i the matter had previously boon put before him. Mr. O'Connor took up tbc position that, aa holder of a duly t centered debenture, he was an ordinary t.eenred creditor. Sir. Kettle: Then he refuses to pay? Mr. Prendergast: A* an ordinary secured creditor, Mr. O'Connor holds he is not liable. Mr. Kettle: I suppose you told Mr. O'Connor the position? Mr. Prrndergaet: Yes, sir. Idid; and I regTet to say Mr. O'Connor appeared to have an idea that his own side had not been properly represented. Mr. Kettle: Then the cane must Maud ovrr for argument. In the meantime. Mr. O'Connor can think over the matter. Mr. Prendergaat: He might got wed to the idea. Mr. Kettle: The Labour Department may have something to say in this case. Supposing I give judgment in equity and rood conscience, against the liquidator, is the indemnity he holds from Mr. OConnor enough to protect him? Perhaps Mr. O'Connor might be joined as a defendant. In all justice this woman is entitled to receive the money she has earned. It dijee soem a very unfair thing if she is not to get it.
Mr. Prt-nderjfast said bo w M actinp at the prwient time in a cane of a fi ß hor man. who soupht to rocovor £20 duo as wajroj..
