PROGRESS IN THE VILNA AREA.
RUSSIANS , SANGUINARY- BAYONET CHARGES. GIiIMANS ABANDON WOUNDED AND MUNITIONS. The High Commissioner reports under date of London. September 27, 11.15 a.m.:—"The Russians captured Resterka. in the neighbourhood of Vilna* "In the same district the fortified village of OstrofT »«n carried with a bayonet charge. Village 30 was recaptured.
The enemy was driven out of the trenches near the village of Old Kolichitzy, 600 German prisoners and quantities of munitions and wagons being captured. Podlugir was captured after a sanguinary bayonet charge, and the Germans were driven across the Strumene, abandoning numerous wounded and quantities o.' monitions.
