EFFECTS OF NEW LAW. BIG INCREASE IN SOBRIETY. LONDON, September 20. Lord D'Abornon, in presiding at a conference of chief conn tables in the liquor control nreae, etated that the prosecutions for drunkenness had dropped by 40 per cent since the application of the new Act dealing with the regulation of the liquor trafllc. There had been, he said, a ({ratifying increase in Robriety amoiifrst seamen and firemen, nnd ulso n marked improvement in the time worked by the men in the .shipyards and ammunition factories. The now Ordor-int'ouncil applying to the control of the liquor traflk- in Ixindon, including the city, had been gazetted.
