TERRIFIC BATTLE IN THE CHAMPAGNE.
GERMAN LINE PENETRATED ON FRONT OF 15 MILES. STUBBORN FIGHTING STILL CONTINUES. (Received I) a.m.) FARIS, September 20. It s officially announced that a terrific battle is proceeding in the Champagne region. The French penetrated the German lines along a front of fifteen miles to a depth of two and a-half mileo at some pointH. They captured 12,000 Germans, In addition to guns and machine-gun*. Stubborn lighting continues.
