Every German woman who desired to return to Germany was given facilities to do so, together With her children. Thoee who were penniless were assisted. Nevertheless, thousands of German women,made the most urgent application to the British Government to be allowed to stay, and while the general policy was repatriation, exceptions were granted in suitable cases.
