!"~ RUGBY. AUCKLAND RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the committee of the Auckland Rugby Union was held last evening, when there were present: Messrs M. J. Sheahan (chairman), T." AJtken, T. | Button, J. Twiname, H. Clay, F. J. Ohleon i and C. V. Langsford (secretary). An application from R. P. Crafg for the removal of his Ruspcnslon, as he was leaving for the Front, was granted, the suspension to take effect from the date of bis leaving too Dominion. The secretary of the New Zealand Rngby Union advised that the mini of £6 had been granted for the purpose of furthering school football. A CROTEST. The Marist Bros, lodged a protest against the City Cluh being declared the winners of the match on Saturday last, on the grounds "That, included in the City team were French and McNah, who, according to the rules, were not Qualified to play for the City team, and that no nppllcatlon was made by the City Club, cither lo the officials of the Ancklaud Rugby Union, or the Marist Bros. Club, for permission to play tbe-snirt players, which was contrary to the rules of the Auckland Rugby Union. It was also pointed out that both players had played under the jurisdiction of the Wellington Rngby Union, iind that the Marist Bros, team only played under protest." After a lengthy putting forward of the facts by Messrs Shoahan, of Marist Bros.. and Pagnl (City), the couimtttee decided on the motion of Mr Lnngsford, seconded by Mr Aitken, that the protest be upheld, and the match awarded to Marist Bros., Mr J. Twiname being the only dissentient. The members of the I'arnell and Orafton third grade teams, who were ordered off in the recent match played 011 the Domain, were before the committee, amLaftcr hearing their statements, the Chairman delivered a homily on the evils of rough play, the committee deciding to take no further action. 1..
