THE MT. EDEN DRAINAGE LOAN.
(To the Editor.} ] Sir, —The great objection that exist 3 against the loan for Ml_ Eden drainage is the extravagance of the Council during the past. Thousands have been squandered on road 3 chiefly for the benefit of motorists. Suffice it to say that the work shown does not appear value for the amounts paid out; not only this, but there seems to be a wilful suppression of facts, when it is said that rates will not be increased for soms time. What about the enormous private cost to the individual in connecting up the drainage to the houses? Let ratepayers think well and Count the cost of this, and it will be seen that whether necessary or not the coat is going to be very heavy.—l am, etc. UNNECESSARY.
