TOO MANY" APPRENTICES.

J. W.. Swales was charged with having employed a greater proportion of apprentices to journeymen than was allowed in the Plumbers and Gasfitters' award.

Defendant pleaded guilty, and stated it was quite an oversight on his part. By the time he got the summons he was entitled to keep the extra apprentice on. . A fine of 20/ was imposed. j " "DAIRYMEN'S AWARD. E. Rl Fitzjames was charged with having committed a breach of the Auckland Dairy Employees' award by paying £ 1 5/ jjer week for delivery of milk instead of £2 67, the amount fixed by the award.

. Mr Durham pleaded guilty, and explained that his client was not aware he had committed a breach of the award. He had taken sick, and the customers were coming to the shop for milk. One woman offered the services of her son, a lad -of-14, to -deliver the milk. Mr Kettle said he would accept defendant's statement. He thought the award" had expired but that was not a complete answer.
