ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.

WET AND COLD. .- It was raining when morning broke at Ellerslie" this morning,, and. there was" a cold snap, but It ~ cleared before work commenced, and the various tasks were recorded under fine weather conditions. Tne sand, 'two-year-old track, and inside grass, the latter ot which was somewhat on the heavy aide, were open,.,the work being performed aa under:— THE SAND. J. Chaafe, jun., was first out. Bending •Gold-die over seven furlongs, which be .eft bebind In 1.30—a good performance. P. Jones followed with GOlssando, which spurted four furlongs in 02a. Lady Elglva (alone) galloped the last six of seven fur:, igs in 1.23. Bedford pleased better than El Gallo over six fonlong's, which he left bebind in 1.21. Toreador spurted three furlongs in 38 2-ss. Roma nut covered six furlongs, the last , Aye taking 1.0 3-5. After breakfast, Mullingar and Jack Delaval were associated over six furlongs, which they left behind in 1.18 4-5, with the three-year-old, which was on the inside, pleasing most at the finish. Phosphorus and Worcester, with the assistance of a "roughle" over the first tliree fnrlongs, covered six fnrlongs in 1.22 2-6, the former finishing the better of the pair. Tripoli {alone) spurted three fnrlongs in 37 -l-ss. Kaimanuka galloped seven furlongs in 1.39 4-5, Caber Feagh, ( which was to have picked him up, not taking part in the gallop owing to the surcingle breaking. Delimbre finished better than Glucian over four furlongs in 52 2-ss. Lurso, with a quarter sheet on, covered a couple of rounds at a good three-quarter pace. •Christmas 'Rose, ran a fast five furlongs, covering the distance in 1.5. Monodon was going easier than Redmond at the end of four fnrlongs, run in 525. Kitty BcMalrs spurted three furlongs in 38s. Monathol was too good for a stable companion over four furlongs In 535. Hockey covered a couple of rounds at a strong half to three-quarter pace. Anne Develln sprinted five fnrlongs In J.S 1-3. Ulster easily held Glenvive over four furlongs, which were Jeft behind In 51 3-sa. THE INSIDE GRABS. J. Rae was first to use the inside grass. Merry Itoc beating Castalia over, a round run in 1.48 2-5. - Waiorewa, Pcnroe, and Colonnade finished iv that order at the end of five .furlongs, rnh in 1.11 1-5. Prince Soult, Soultlkoff, and Tragedy King was the order of the trio at the end of six furlongs, run in 1.21. Bluestone (alone) covered the last five of six furlongs in J. 7.4-5. j Admiral Soult traversed a couple of' rounds' at a strong half pace. After breakfast. Royal Irish easily held. Black Northern over a round in L 64 2-5. | Dan.Castor was a couple of lengths too good for Chime at the end of four furlongs in 55 4-sh. St. .Lewis rau a round In I_sß, being followed by Sphinx, which took 2.3 3-5. St Lewis was walking very short after working. THE JUMPERS. Moahau jumped a couple of hurdles, and then covered a round of the Inside grass. Takanlnl alone was schooled over live hurdles, but his display was not very Impressive. - - - -

Nat Lupin, lady Sabretache, Maisonette, Vestal, Hassan, Captain Jack and Captain Pine Bet out for a round of the steeplechase country, going over the hill. Maisonette made the pace, and no mistakes were made until the old water Jump was reached, when Captain pine stopped Going np the hill Nat Lupin and Lady Sabretache went oat together, and led down to the water, which they Jumped together, with Maisonette, Veatal and Hassan following. Captain Jack did not take on the water, but led Captain Pine, which had been brought back, over the double. The veteran hit the second fence hard, his dimimitlve pilot doing 1 a "Flying Jordan" act, but escaped unhurt, it waa a nice bit of schooling work. PAVaVOVA SCRATCHED. Pavlova waa withdrawn from all engagements at the A.R.C. Autumn Meeting at 11.30 ajn. t»day. . . OHINEMURI J.C. MEETING. """"" The second day's racing of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club, postponed from last week, will I take place at Paeroa on Saturday, the 27th Inst., when given anything like decent weather a record crowd should be present. A special train has been arranged tor, leaving Auckland at 6.10 a_n., returning leaving Paeroa at 6.15 pjn. A special train will also be run to convey horses back to EUerslie at the conclusion of the meeting, which should £>c greatly appreciated- by. those in charge of the horses. THE -RANGITIKBI RACES.
