ONE SHILLING DAMAGES
DT BAEYEETZ LIBEL CASE. ~ SYDNEY, March -23. The Baeyertz libej case tha 6 concluded. The editor of the New Zealand paper, "Triad," Charles Na&der Baeyertz, suedthe proprietors of 'The Theatre," a magazine, claiming £1000 damages (for alleged libel, contained in a paragraph Teferring to criticißm pubfefliied in the '-Triad" by ithe plaintiff. Plaintiff contended that hhe paragraph wilridh epoke of "Herr" Baeyertz, inferred that fee was a German, and-was, therefore, disloyal and urrwortihy of trust and eonfidsnee, whereby plaintiff wae injured in ibis credit and repultetition.
The plaintiff was awarded one shilling i .damages. No. evidence was called for the idefcno*. s
