The Neuve Chapelle fight lias shown that the strongest, entrenched positions may be carried with less loss to the attackers than to the defenders if the (assault be sufficiently prepared-by artil l lery, and that any counter-attack to regain the lost ground is almost bound to fail with immense loss to those attempting it.
