The motor ambulance which, has been: purchased with subscriptions from the citizens of Auckland was handed:' over to the Hospital and Charitable AitL Board this afternoon at a ceremony which' took place in the hospital grounds. Mr. J. J. Craig officiated on behalf of the Ambulance Committee and Mr. <L. J. Bagnall represented the 'Hospital Board in the absence of the chairman (.Mr. M. J. Coyle).

■In the course of the speeches it wa* pointed out that the subscription mover ment had been organised mainly." by Captain E. J. Thomas, hon. secretary, otthe Ambulance Committee. The- new ambulance had cost £634, plus duty.and more than enough money was in hand | for fch e purchase of another. The speakers also mentioned that a garage .capable of housing three such conveyances was being erected in the hospitalgrounds by the Hospital Board.

The ambulance is of English make, having come from the works of Xapier,'"■■■', Ltd. It is painted with dark carriage;. ■' green, and marked off with black lines; On the centre of the panel' are the I words, "Auckland Hospital Ambulance,? and in another conspicuous place is the city coat of arms.

Subsequently the visitors were taken through the new operating theatre, and entertained to afternoon te*.
