ANOTHER GIFT PARK.

I OTAHUHU BENEFITS. MAYOR DONATES VALUABLE AREA. The Mayor of Otahuhn, Mr. Alfred Sturgee, has made a handsome gift to the residents of the district in the shape of over fourteen acres of land on the Fort Richard Estate, situated almost in the heart of the borough. The land, which is valued at £3,000, is to be need as a public park, and a hill upon it commands a splendid prospect of the surrounding districts of Mangere, Papatoetoe and Otara. At the conclusion or the Council meeting the Mayor .handed over the title deeds, representing 14 acres 1 rood, and expressed the hope that the residents would rise to the occasion and beautify the hill in order to provide a recreation ground for Otahuhu. The members of the Council present all spoke in glowing terms of the Mayor's generosity in making euch a fine gift to the borough, and the hope was expressed that he would have the pleasure of witnessing the great benefit which would accrue to the people of the district as the result of so munificent a gift.
