tFrom Our Special Correspondent) LONDON, February 5. The High Commissioner has appointed on behalf oi the Civil Service Commission two veterinary surgeons for NewZealand, Messrs. Herbert W. Carbery, M.R.C.V.S., of Dublin, lately an inspector under the Board of Agriculture of Irland, and Win. C. Barry, MJLC.V.S., of Cork, who has heen in private practice in Ireland. Both are bachelors, and sail by the Tongariro about the middle of March. Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson, of Auckland, and Mrs. Burns, the latter's sister, leave on a tour of Northern Italy next week. Mrs. Stringer, of Christchurch, who i has several relatives in the New Zea- : land Expeditionary Force, leaveß to- ; morrow for a fortnight in Egypt en route for home. Mrs. Simon, wife of Major Simon (who has just been promoted from a captaincy) leaves for Egypt to-morrow by the Malwa.
