LONDON MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLEGRAM. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The High Commissioner's market report, dated London, March 20, is as follows (quotations, unless otherwise stated, are average market prices on spot):— Mutton.—-The market Ls firm, with fair demand. Stocks of mutton on hand are light. North Island, Od per lb; ordinary quality, o.d. Lamb.—The market ls firm, with an upward tendency and good demand. Prime quality, other than Canterbury, 7Jd for best quality; second grade, 7)d. Beef.—Less demand as the result of heavy arrivals of chilled beef. New Zealand hinds, GJd; fores, Gd. Chilled binds, Old; fores, 53d. Butter.—The market is not quite so Arm. Danish, per cwt., 140/ to 148/; New Zealand, 142/ to 143/, occasionally 145/; Australian, 138/ to 142/: Siberian, 132/ to 130/; Argentine, 136/ to 13S/. Cheese.—The market ls Arm, but tbe demand Is only moderate by the trade generally. It is on account of requirements for the Government that the market remains firm. Canadian, per cwt., 94/ to 06/; New Zealand, 03/ to 04/; Australian, 00/ to 01/; United States, 80/ to 00/. Hemp.—The market is tlrin, and bas advanced owing to advices from Manila indicating an unsettled position, shortage of freights, dry weather, and disorganisation owing to the new regulations regarding grading. New Zealand, good, fair grade, per ton, £33; fair, £31; fair current Manila, £37 10/. Forward shipment, April to June: New Zealand, good fair, per ton, £33 10/; fair, £31 15/: fair current Manila, £39. The output from Manila for the week was 23,000 bales. Wheat.—The market is qniet, hut firm, on account of Government purchases. Canadian, per quarter, 61/; American, 64/; Argentine 62/. Oats.—The market ls Arm, with improved demand. New Zealand oats short (sparrow bill-), ex granary per quarter of 3841b5, 35/.
