OBITUARY.

MR. T. G. BROWN. A highly-esteemed citizen, who was well known in commercial as well as other circles, died in Auckland yesterday, namely,' Mr. George Thomas Brown, of the firm of Mes>rs. Brown and Stewart, Swanson Street. His death at 40 years of age. while in the prime of life, is deeply regretted by the many friends of the family. The cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Brown was a son of Mr. Alexander Gordon Brown, solicitor, of Stonehaven, Scotland, being born in 1860. He served his apprentice with Messrs. J%hn Walker and Co.. of London, and came to New Zealand 31 years ago. On arrival he was employed here by Messrs. Collins Brothers, remaining with that firm for 12 to IS years. When 17 to 18 years of age Mr. Brown entered into partnership with Mr. R. L- Stewart, founding -the firm of Brown and Stewart, wholesale stationers. The deceased baa for the greater part of his life been "on the road" as a commercial traveller, beinr; very popular wherever he went. Mrs. John Knox, wife of the manager of the National Bank of New Zealand at Te Aro, Wellington, was deceased's only sister in New Zealand. Mr. David Stewart Brown is also a brother. In 1893 the deceased was married to the eldest daughter of Mr. Andrew Stewart, of Auckland. Mr. Brown is surged by his widow, one son, and two daughters. The interment, which was private, took place this afternoon, the funeral leaving deceased's late residence, "Dunnottar," Home Bay. at 2.30 p.m.
