GERMAN DEVASTATION IN POLAND.

RUSSIAN PROGRESS ON THE NIEMEN. ENITTCT ROUTED NEAR PRASNYSZ WITH ENORMOUS LOSSES. PETROGRAD, March 21. The Germans in Poland have devastated 05 towns, 4.500 hamlets, of which 1,000 were burned to the ground. The damage done amounts to £100.000.000. The Rus.-ians have raptured Vysoe, on the left bank of the Niensen, and repulsed a counter-attack. In the Voyll region the Germans suffered heavy infantry losses. They ( sent four squadrons of cavalry through the marshes to support an infantry force in an attempt to envelop the Russians' main flank. The Russian artillery suddenly attacked, and killed or WJunded most of the enemy, dispersing the remnant, It' is officially announced that Memcl, in East Prussia, was captured after street fighting, wherein all the inhabitants participated. * The Germans, attacking in close order, near Mvsvniec, north-eastward of Prasnysz, on tbe border of East Prussia, were routed with enormous losses. The 30th division Mas severely defeated southward of Ciez Kowice, in Galicia. A sortie from Przcmysl by the Austrians was driven back with serious losses. WELLINGTON, March 21. The Prime Minister has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner in London, dated March 20:— "Petrograd reports state that on the left bank of the Nicmen the Russians have captured Vysee.
