BURIAL IN A CATHEDRAL.

THE LATE BISHOP GRIMES. SPECIAL INTERMENT AUTHORISED (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WELLINGTON, Friday. At a' meeting of Cabinet this afternoon the question of permitting the burial of Bishop Grimes in the Catholic Cathedral at Christchurch was considered, with results satisfactory to the Roman Catholic community. The burial within the building is to be permitted, and will take place on Thursday next at 10 a.m v preceded by a pontifical Mass. Though the burial in non-registered ground is technically against the law, there have been previous occasions on which this has been permitted. The late Sir John Logan Campbell, Auckland's Grand Old Man, was buried at the top of One-tree Hill, the roost prominent feature of the magnificent park he gave in his own lifetime to the public. A clause 'n the next annual Empowering Bill validated this procedure, and no doubt a similar course will be taken in the case of the late Bishop Grimes. Bishop Cleary, of Auckland, Archbishop O'Shea, of Wellington, and a large number of clergy and prominent laymen of the church will attend the funeral in Christchurch. It is not intended to hold any ceremony during the transference of the coffin from the Sydney steamer to the Lyttelton boat' irt Wellington, a true model of priesthood. I
