MILTARY FIRE-FLIES
FOR NIGHT-FIGHTING. LONDON, March 17. A fantastic and uncanny feature of the fighting in France and Planners is the extensive use of illuminating rockets. The Germans initiated the system, fearing bayonet attacks at night. Soldiers, using pistol's, shoot the rockets some hundred of-yards high, and a cotton, fuse ignites, illuminating a mixture -which blazes like Bengal fire. Simultaneously there are liberated small parachutes, I which sustain the rockets in the air for i a considerable time. '
