LENTEN SERVICE.
Mr Arthur P. Cowie gave the last of his addresses to men at the wharf to-day. He traced the unquietness, distress, and failure of worldly organisation to the time when man and woman first doubted God's command. Man still hides behind his tree of counterfeit safety. He still has his excuses to offer when God calls him out, and he still has every opportunitw of blaming the woman. The second Adam is the greatest moral lever in the world to-day to lift man out of his surroundings, as He makes character by changing the heart and not the environment alone.
