WORK IN JAPAX. The New Zealand agent of the British and Foreign Bible Society has forwarded the statement of the contributions raised in New Zealand during 1914. In the whole of New Zealand about £1,450 was remitted, the different auxiliaries contributing tbe following amounts:— North Auckland £11, Auckland £200, South Auckland £03, Bay of Plenty £31, Taranaki £13(5, Wanganui £200, Manawatu £70, Poverty Bay £06, Hawke's Bay £225. Wairarapa £82. AVellington £50, Nelson £9, Westland £16, North Canterbury and Christchurch £125, South Canterbury £TlB, miscellaneous £9. At the present time the society is particularly busy in supplying belligerents of all nations wibh suitably-bound copies of the Scriptures or a portion of them each in their own language. In Japan the bold the Bible has gained upon tbe leaders in that Empire is remarkable. The Premier, Count Okuma, has invited the World Sunday School Convention to have its next conference at Tokyo, in 1016. When asked by an American gentleman -what led him to do this, he replied: "I have in mind the establishment of Sunday schools throughout the Empire, so that all, both old and young, may spend their Sundays in studying. thißibla, ' - *~
