THE GAUDIN CASE.
REMISSION OF SENTENCE TO SIX MONTHS. The sentence of five years' imprisonment imposed on Frederick Edward Norman Gaudin by a military court at Apia, Samoa, on December 23rd last, lias been reduced by bis Excellenc3 r the, Governor to one of six months' imprisonment, with hard labour. Tbe term of imprisonment is to date from Gaudin's conviction at Samoa. The prisoner, who was convicted and sentenced by court-martial on several charges laid under military law, was brought back to Auckland on January 4th, 6ince which date he has been serving his term of five years' imprisonment, with hard labour. The remission of sentence will result in his release from custody about the end of June next.
