CHARGED WITH FORGERY.
'ISOMER PLEADS INSANITY. | CAUSED BY EPILEPSY. SYDNEY, March 15. During the trial of Earle Hermann on three counts, involving forging and uttering promissory notes.to the amount of £13,791,' the Crown called evidence to show that defendant conducted a - company for managing investments. In April, 1914, Hermann discounted three promissory notes with Hermann WalltzS, the manager of Reuters banking . department, purporting to have been sent and signed by one Triggs, a wellindwn grazier. '"" " "Couhser stated that Triggs would swear, that the documents did not represent transactions with him, and that the signatures were forgeries. Counsel for the defence argued that - --defendant had-no knowledge-of the pro-missory-notes,.-but admitted that if he -had, then it must be a guilty knowledge. Defendant was suffering from a •violent type of epilepsy, and pleaded insanity.
