WAITEMATA'S fAT 'HOME-*' ■ COLLECTING CLUB RECORDS. A most enjoyable "At Home*' was held at the Waitemata Boating: Club's boathouse at St. George's Bay on the occasion of the race, for the Commodore's - trophies, presented by Mr. A. M. Myers, commodore of the club. A most Interesting feature of the social side of the . ceremony "was the presentation, to the club. of a photographic shield of old-time stalwarts to whose', unquenchable courage during seasons of adversity the club owes Its very strong standing today. Captain Parker, who was the second capta(n of Waitemata (holding the position from 1885-90), made the presentation, and In doing bo gave an intensely Interesting sketch of the activities of the club in the early days when wbgleboat racing wis at the height of popularity. A photograph of the championship whaleboat crew was Included in the shield that was presented to' the club. Commodore A. M. Myers, In acknowledging the gift, expressed the deep appreciation of tbe members of the very proud history which, these Veterans had' built up for the Waitemata Club, and of their Sense of the valuable nature of tbe gift as a historical record, which, would inspire present and futnre members of the club to' keep the iblhe-and-gbld flag flying. The Commodore paid a cordial tribute to the ladles of the Waitemata Clnb and to the valuable help they had given' In making it such a social success. Mr. W. G. Smith, vice-commodore, and foundation member of the club, was one of the honoured guests present. The final resulted:—Fearon (stroke), Iladfleld, E. White, J. Kelly (Cduch), 1; A. White (stroke), 11. White, G. Huddleston. L. Lewis (Gallagher), 2. WEST END "AT HOME." BIG SOCIAL SUCCESS. Ideal weather couditions favoured the West End Club for the holding of their second ""At Home" cf the season.
