THE "SILVER BULLET"
IN STORMING SOCIETY. PROFESSIONAL CHAPERONE GETS THREE MONTHS. (Received 0.10 a.m.) I LONDON. March 14. I Lady Ida Stilwell has been sentenced to three months' imprisonment, Julian Field to eighteen months' imprisonment, ' and Oliver Herbert was acquitted, on a charge of ronspii-acy to defraud a Miss Dobbs of £0,000. Lady Stilwell. when cross-examined, said her husband had several times previously paid her debts. She admitted that she had asked her son, an officer in a crack regiment, to induce his fellowofficers to back her bills. She promised to use the family influence to get men elected to the Marlborough Club. She had also promised to get women, including Miss Dobbs, into society. It was stated in evidence that Lady Stilwell had borrowed £145 from lier servants. Lady Ida Stilwell. who is a daughter of'the first Earl of Londesborough, was married to Sir G. R. Stilwell thirty years ago. Sir George was formerly in the Army. He has travelled a good deal, has written on historical subjects, is interested in the revival of formal gardening and in art generally.
